Day 1 & 2 (Sigiriya) - The Lion Rock

Sigiriya is one of Sri Lanka’s most precious treasures and is often called the eighth wonder of the world. Sigiriya dates back to the reign of King Kasyapa (477-495 AD), who chose this site as his capital to rule his kingdom. The massive rock fortress reaches nearly 200 meters high and dominates the jungle from all sides. The entrance to Sigiriya is through the mouth of a lion, which was once a grand gateway. Visitors ascend a series of galleries and staircases emerging from this gigantic lion constructed of bricks and plaster. The western walls of Sigiriya are adorned with 18 frescoes created during the Kasyapa period. These frescoes depict various scenes, including a woman, believed to be Kasyapa’s wife or a priestess. Sigiriya Village Safari offers an authentic glimpse into rural Sri Lankan life, surrounded by nature’s beauty. It’s a memorable experience that combines culture, adventure, and delicious food. Begin your adventure with a traditional bullock cart ride through unbeaten village tracks. Hop onto a catamaran boat and cruise along the Lake. Admire the stunning views of the surrounding landscape and including Sigiriya and Pidurangala rocks. Visit a real Sri Lankan village house and immerse yourself in the daily life of the locals. Explore paddy fields, see endemic vegetables, and relax in the tranquil setting. Don’t miss the chance to savour a delicious Sri Lankan lunch at the village house. Conclude the tour with a Tuk Tuk ride back to the starting location. If you are lucky you might get a glimpse of some wild elephants in the village.

Day 3 (Kandy) - The Spiritual Capital
